The Second World WarDruhá svetová vojna
The TatrasTatry
After the Munich Agreement of September 1938 dismembered Czechoslovakia, Poland took a share of its own: strips of Orava and Spiš, and in the Tatras the Javorina and Lesnica area on the northern side. It lasted less than a year. On 1 September 1939 Germany invaded Poland — and the new Slovak State went in with it, sending its army across the border from under these mountains and recovering the annexed villages. That is a fact Slovak textbooks were slow to state plainly: the country that had just lost territory to Poland took part in the attack on Poland, on Germany's side, in the first days of the Second World War.Keď mníchovská dohoda zo septembra 1938 rozobrala Československo, vzalo si svoj diel aj Poľsko: pásy Oravy a Spiša a v Tatrách oblasť Javoriny a Lesnice na severnej strane. Netrvalo to ani rok. 1. septembra 1939 napadlo Nemecko Poľsko — a nový Slovenský štát šiel s ním, poslal spod týchto hôr vojsko cez hranicu a zabraté obce získal späť. Je to fakt, ktorý slovenské učebnice dlho hovorili neradi: krajina, ktorá práve stratila územie v prospech Poľska, sa v prvých dňoch druhej svetovej vojny zúčastnila na útoku na Poľsko po boku Nemecka.
