Everything here begins with the volcano. It stopped erupting long before anyone lived in its crater, but the hot fluids that moved through the cracked rock left veins of silver, gold, lead and zinc behind, close enough to the surface for people without machines to find them. Archaeologists date the first mining in these hills to Celtic settlers of the third century BC; Roman writers knew of a people in the mountains north of the Danube, the Cotini, whose business was digging metal out of the ground. Nothing of a town survives from then — only the fact that the ore was already being taken, roughly two thousand years before the Mining Academy.Všetko sa tu začína sopkou.
