After the catastrophe at Mohács in 1526 the kingdom split three ways and this western third went to the Habsburgs. The Ottoman frontier settled far to the south-east, so Holíč never faced a Turkish siege — but the fear of one shaped everything built here, and so did the noble family that now held the estate. The Czobors owned Holíč right through this period and kept it until 1736. Something else arrived in the same century and mattered more than anyone expected: Habans, Anabaptist refugees expelled from Moravia and the Alps for their beliefs, who settled around here in communal farmsteads and were famous potters. Czoborovci vlastnili Holíč po celé toto obdobie a udržali si ho až do roku 1736. V tom istom storočí pribudlo ešte čosi, na čom napokon záležalo viac, než ktokoľvek čakal: habáni, novokrstenci vyhnaní pre vieru z Moravy a z Álp, ktorí sa tu usadili v spoločných dvoroch a preslávili sa ako hrnčiari. Ich dielne sú dôvod, prečo tu neskôr dávala keramická manufaktúra zmysel práve na tomto mieste.
