In November 1989 the crowds that brought down the communist government in Prague and Bratislava gathered in Trnava too, on Trojičné námestie under the city tower. What the town did with its freedom says a great deal about it: within three years it had a university again. Trnava University was re-established in 1992, taking the name and the descent of Pázmány's foundation of 1635 — and it teaches in the Adalbertinum, the student hostel of 1619, which makes that building's teaching history one of the longest in Central Europe. The University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius followed in 1997. After 215 years, a town that had lost its university to an imperial decree simply started another one.V novembri 1989 sa davy, ktoré v Prahe a Bratislave zvrhli komunistickú vládu, zišli aj v Trnave — na Trojičnom námestí pod mestskou vežou. Trnavská univerzita bola obnovená v roku 1992, prevzala meno aj tradíciu Pázmaňovho založenia z roku 1635 — a učí v Adalbertine, študentskom konvikte z roku 1619, čím sa tá budova radí k stavbám s najdlhšou nepretržitou učiteľskou minulosťou v strednej Európe. V roku 1997 pribudla Univerzita sv. Cyrila a Metoda. Po 215 rokoch si mesto, ktoré o univerzitu prišlo cisárskym rozhodnutím, jednoducho založilo ďalšiu.
