For six seasons around 1970 the best football team in Czechoslovakia came from a town of forty thousand people. Spartak Trnava, founded in 1923 and nicknamed the White Angels, won five Czechoslovak league titles between 1968 and 1973 and reached the semi-final of the European Cup — the competition now called the Champions League — in the 1968–69 season. In a country where almost everything was decided in Prague or Bratislava, this was a thing Trnava had entirely for itself, and it is still the first thing many Slovaks think of when the town is named. The ground is now the Anton Malatinský Stadium, and what the town eventually built around it is the strangest thing on this whole timeline.Šesť sezón okolo roku 1970 mal najlepší futbalový klub Československa štyridsaťtisícové mesto. V krajine, kde sa takmer všetko rozhodovalo v Prahe alebo Bratislave, to bola vec, ktorú mala Trnava celkom pre seba, a mnohým Slovákom sa pri mene mesta vybaví ako prvá. Ihrisko sa dnes volá Štadión Antona Malatinského a to, čo okolo neho mesto napokon postavilo, je najzvláštnejšia vec na celej tejto časovej osi.
