In the first half of the fifteenth century Hussite troops captured the monastery. Spiš in those decades was crossed by field armies and then by the mercenary companies that followed them, and a rich, isolated house full of stored grain and silver was worth the trouble of taking. Sources give the raid to that half-century without pinning a year to it, which is worth knowing in itself: not every event in a medieval chronicle comes with a date.
