With the founding of Czechoslovakia the map was redrawn, and in 1919 Zvolen became the seat of the Zvolen župa — a county again after more than a century without the title. Three years later the administration was reorganised once more and on 1 January 1923 the Zvolen district was created, still with its offices in the town. The railway junction kept growing through the interwar years, and with it the workshops that would matter more than anyone expected two decades later.So vznikom Česko-Slovenska sa mapa prekreslila a Zvolen sa v roku 1919 stal sídlom Zvolenskej župy — po viac než storočí opäť stoličným mestom. O tri roky prišla ďalšia reorganizácia a 1. januára 1923 vznikol Zvolenský okres, opäť s úradmi v meste. Železničný uzol počas medzivojnových rokov ďalej rástol a s ním aj dielne, ktoré mali o dve desaťročia neskôr znamenať viac, než ktokoľvek čakal.
