After February 1948 the communist state collectivised the farms, and in kopanice country that hit hard: scattered hill farmsteads made no sense to a cooperative, and people moved down to jobs in Senica and Myjava. The regime wanted Štúr and Hurban too, reading 1843 as a story of the common people against the gentry, so the memorial at the parsonage was kept up and the anniversaries were marked. That is the odd protection this village has enjoyed — three successive states with three different politics, and all of them needed what happened here. Režim si nárokoval aj Štúra a Hurbana — rok 1843 čítal ako príbeh ľudu proti panstvu — takže pamätník na fare udržiaval a výročia sa pripomínali. Taká je zvláštna ochrana, akej sa tejto dedine dostalo: tri štáty za sebou, tri rôzne politiky, a všetky potrebovali to, čo sa tu stalo. Nad Hurbanovým hrobom stojí kamenný obelisk.
