The Reformation took hold among the German burghers of Spiš in the sixteenth century and stayed. The free-standing Renaissance bell tower beside the church belongs to those prosperous years. Towns all over Spiš built them, putting their bells in a separate structure with a decorated attic storey rather than on the church itself. It was partly practical and mostly a boast: the tower was what the town could afford, and it was the town that paid for it.Reformácia sa medzi nemeckými mešťanmi na Spiši ujala v 16. storočí a zostala.
