13th–14th century The road north, and a churchCesta na sever a kostol

The town sits on the Poprad river on the road running north to the Polish crossings, and that road was its living: carting, brewing, milling and the crafts that gather around a market. The parish church of St Anthony the Abbot goes back to this period. Above the town stand the Belianske Tatry, the limestone eastern wing of the range — quite different rock from the granite peaks to the west, which is why this end of the mountains has caves in it and the other end does not.Mesto leží na rieke Poprad, na ceste smerujúcej na sever k poľským priechodom, a práve tá cesta ho živila: furmanstvo, pivovarníctvo, mlynárstvo a remeslá, ktoré sa zbiehajú okolo trhu. Farský kostol svätého Antona Pustovníka pochádza z tohto obdobia. Nad mestom stoja Belianske Tatry, vápencové východné krídlo pohoria — celkom iná hornina než žulové štíty na západe, a práve preto sú jaskyne na tomto konci hôr a na druhom nie.
