The communist state went back to the rock. Building of an ore-processing plant began in 1957, a tunnel through to the old Piesky workings was finished in 1961, and the plant opened in 1964. It did not restore the valley's fortune, and mining is not what saved the village. In 1979 the old core was declared a protected reserve of folk architecture, and around 85 miners' houses are listed monuments today. What is being preserved here is not a castle or a great church but the ordinary housing of working people, which is far rarer to find still standing.Komunistický štát sa k tunajšej hornine ešte raz vrátil. Roku 1957 sa začala stavba úpravne rudy, roku 1961 sa prerazila štôlňa k starým dielam na Pieskoch a roku 1964 úpravňa začala pracovať. Doline to bohatstvo nevrátilo a nebolo to baníctvo, čo obec zachránilo. V roku 1979 vyhlásili staré jadro za pamiatkovú rezerváciu ľudovej architektúry a chránených je dnes asi 85 baníckych domov. Nechráni sa tu teda hrad ani veľký kostol, ale bežné bývanie pracujúcich ľudí — a to sa v pôvodnej podobe zachová oveľa vzácnejšie.
