Travertine had long been quarried here as a building and carving stone, and in 1964 an international sculpture symposium began: sculptors coming to the village each summer to cut blocks of the local stone, with the finished work left standing where it was made. Decades of it now stand among the trees and out on the meadows, each piece weathering at its own speed — the oldest pitted and grey, the newest still pale. In 1967 the Kráter, the round pool of still water in the top of a travertine mound above the spa, was declared a protected natural formation.Travertín sa tu oddávna lámal ako stavebný a sochársky kameň a roku 1964 sa začalo medzinárodné sochárske sympózium: sochári prichádzajú do obce každé leto, opracúvajú bloky miestneho kameňa a hotové dielo ostáva stáť tam, kde vzniklo. Sú ich tu dnes desaťročia, medzi stromami aj na lúkach, a každé zvetráva svojím tempom — najstaršie rozjedené a sivé, najnovšie ešte svetlé. Roku 1967 vyhlásili Kráter, okrúhle jazierko stojatej vody na vrchole travertínovej kopy nad kúpeľmi, za chránený prírodný výtvor.
