1332–1337 A parish church of St NicholasFarský kostol svätého Mikuláša

Between 1332 and 1337 papal tax collectors worked their way through the Kingdom of Hungary writing down every parish that owed a tithe, and the church of St Nicholas at Kapušany is in their register. That one entry proves the place already had a parish and a priest, not just a scatter of houses. The town lay in Ung county, whose seat was Ungvár — the city now called Uzhhorod, on the far side of today's Ukrainian border. For the next six hundred years everything official was settled there, and the road east was this town's main road.V rokoch 1332 – 1337 prešli pápežskí výbercovia desiatkov celé Uhorské kráľovstvo a zapísali každú faru, ktorá platila daň; medzi nimi je aj kostol svätého Mikuláša v Kapušanoch. Ten jediný záznam dokazuje, že tu už bola farnosť s kňazom, nie iba zopár domov. Mesto patrilo do Užskej stolice a jej sídlom bol Užhorod, dnes ležiaci za ukrajinskou hranicou. Šesťsto rokov sa všetko úradné vybavovalo tam a cesta na východ bola pre Kapušany tou hlavnou.
