But a few kilometres upstream at Kopčany stands the small church of St Margaret, and directly opposite on the Moravian bank lay Mikulčice, one of the largest fortified centres of Great Moravia. Some archaeologists argue St Margaret's is the only building of Great Moravia still standing anywhere; others date it to the tenth or eleventh century, and the argument is not settled. What is certain is that in the ninth century the river crossing Holíč would later guard was not on the edge of the country — it was in the middle of its most important place.Holíč sa v deviatom storočí v nijakej listine nespomína, takže pozor na to, čo nasleduje.
