Holíč ChâteauHolíčsky zámok

In the 1420s and 1430s Hussite armies from Bohemia — followers of the burned preacher Jan Hus, fighting a religious war that turned into a twenty-year campaign — crossed into the Kingdom of Hungary again and again, and the road they used ran right past Holíč. In 1428 a force under Prokop Holý, the most famous of the Hussite commanders, burned the town. The castle itself held. In 1438 King Albert attached a title to Holíč for his chancellor Kaspar Schlick, but that family left no real trace on the ground here — a useful reminder that a name in a charter and a presence in a place are not the same thing.V dvadsiatych a tridsiatych rokoch 15. storočia prechádzali husitské vojská z Čiech — stúpenci upáleného kazateľa Jána Husa, ktorí viedli náboženskú vojnu, z akej sa stalo dvadsaťročné ťaženie — do Uhorska znova a znova, a cesta, ktorou chodili, viedla tesne popri Holíči.
