The new republic reached this valley unevenly. In 1919, during the invasion by the Hungarian Red Army, a town directorate was set up here, and afterwards the land of the old estate was parcelled out among people who had none — which is why the 1920s made Svidník a centre of the smallholders' movement. Then the state took the district office away: from 1 December 1925 it moved to Stropkov, leaving Svidník only a branch office for 47 villages. Small things arrived instead: a state burgher school in 1932, and the first films shown in the village in 1934.Nová republika sa do tejto doliny dostávala nerovnomerne. Prišli zato menšie veci: v roku 1932 štátna meštianska škola a v roku 1934 prvé premietanie filmov.
