1948 – 1989 Sleep in the village, work in the valleySpať v dedine, robiť v doline

Under communism the land was collectivised and the village's own living — sheep, cattle, hay, forest — stopped being enough on its own. What kept Kobeliarovo going was the bus down the hill. The iron-ore mine and ore plant at Nižná Slaná, the magnesite works of the Gemer valleys, the factories around Rožňava: people slept in the village and worked below it, which is the pattern of the whole upland Gemer in those forty years. It was a real living and it held the population steady for a while. It also meant that the village had no work of its own left to fall back on if the valley's industry ever stopped.Za komunizmu pôdu združstevnili a to, z čoho dedina dovtedy žila — ovce, dobytok, seno, les — prestalo samo osebe stačiť. Kobeliarovo držal pri živote autobus dole do doliny. Baňa a úpravňa železnej rudy v Nižnej Slanej, magnezitky v gemerských dolinách, závody okolo Rožňavy: ľudia spali v dedine a pracovali pod ňou, a taký bol počas tých štyridsiatich rokov celý horný Gemer. Bolo to poctivé živobytie a na čas udržalo počet obyvateľov. Znamenalo to však aj to, že v samotnej obci neostala nijaká práca, ku ktorej by sa dalo vrátiť, keby priemysel v doline raz skončil.
