The eighteenth century was Sobrance's quiet century: fairs, the road east to Ungvár, and farming on the plain to the south. Maria Theresa's land reform, later in the same century, wrote down for the first time exactly what a serf owed his lord, a small thing that mattered to everybody. Nothing dramatic happened here for two hundred years, which for most places in most centuries is the good outcome.Osemnáste storočie bolo pre Sobrance tichým storočím: jarmoky, cesta na východ do Ungváru a hospodárenie na rovine na juh od mesta. Tereziánska urbárska reforma v druhej polovici toho istého storočia po prvý raz písomne stanovila, čo poddaný zemepánovi dlhuje; drobnosť, na ktorej záležalo každému. Dvesto rokov sa tu nestalo nič dramatické — a pre väčšinu miest je to vo väčšine storočí ten lepší výsledok.
