In 1415 a painter — or a workshop; who it was is still argued over — covered the sanctuary and part of the nave with a scheme of scenes and figures: the life of Christ, ranks of saints under painted architecture, St George and the dragon. This is the courtly style of the years around 1400, executed in a small village church in the hills, and nothing about the plain outside of the building prepares you for it. Painting a village church from floor to vault was normal practice across central Europe then. What is not normal is that this one survives nearly whole, when almost everywhere else only fragments do.V roku 1415 pokryl maliar — alebo dielňa; kto to bol, sa dodnes sporí — svätyňu a časť lode výjavmi a postavami: život Krista, rady svätcov pod maľovanou architektúrou, svätý Juraj s drakom.
