Housing estates, schools, a new street plan and a new population followed the smelter, and the number of inhabitants multiplied. The manor house and its park were left standing in the middle of it, which is why the town has an eighteenth-century core surrounded by concrete rather than the other way round. The plant also left a bill: the original smelting technology released fluoride compounds that damaged the forests and farmland of the whole basin. That damage was visible from the road, and it took decades to deal with.Za hlinikárňou prišli sídliská, školy, nový uličný plán a nové obyvateľstvo a počet ľudí sa znásobil. Kaštieľ a park nechali stáť uprostred toho všetkého — preto má mesto jadro z osemnásteho storočia obklopené betónom, a nie naopak.
