The Rákóczi uprising, the last and largest Hungarian revolt against the Habsburgs, ended for this valley in 1708, when the imperial general Sigbert Heister took Šášov castle and had it set on fire. It was never rebuilt and has been falling apart ever since. Remember that the next time someone tells you a Slovak castle was destroyed by the Turks: far more often it was the emperor's own army, making sure that no rebel could ever use those walls again.Rákociho povstanie, posledné a najväčšie uhorské povstanie proti Habsburgovcom, sa pre túto dolinu skončilo v roku 1708, keď cisársky generál Sigbert Heister dobyl Šášovský hrad a nechal ho podpáliť. Nikdy ho neobnovili a odvtedy sa rozpadáva.
