The Tisovec ironworks did not survive the century that had made them. Production was concentrated into a few large state combines elsewhere in Slovakia, and the town was left with limestone quarrying on the edge of the plateau above it, forestry and sawmilling. Regular traffic over the rack section came to an end, and scheduled passenger trains have terminated at Tisovec ever since.
