After 1989 the state factories went to the market and the knitwear works shrank; people began commuting to Piešťany, to Trnava and to the plants along the motorway instead. What the town did with its history was the more visible change. The kúria on the square was restored in the late 1990s and given to the library and a historical exhibition, with a memorial to Beňovský beside it, and the leaning tower was surveyed and stabilised as the thing visitors actually come for.Po roku 1989 prešli štátne podniky na trh, pletiareň sa zmenšila a ľudia začali dochádzať za prácou do Piešťan, do Trnavy a do závodov pri diaľnici. Viditeľnejšou zmenou však bolo to, ako sa mesto postavilo k vlastným dejinám. Kúriu na námestí koncom deväťdesiatych rokov obnovili a odovzdali knižnici a historickej expozícii, vedľa nej pribudol pamätník Beňovského, a naklonenú zvonicu premerali a zaistili ako to, pre čo sem návštevníci naozaj chodia.
