In 1950 tyre production began at Púchov, and from that point the town’s history is the plant’s history. It grew into the largest industrial works in the Trenčín region, and the housing estates on the flat ground by the river were built for the people who worked in it. In the same years the Váh itself was rebuilt into a staircase of dams and hydroelectric stations; the step at Nosice, on the town’s northern edge, laid a long reservoir against Púchov. It is still called the Priehrada mládeže, the Youth Dam, after the brigades of young volunteers who worked on it.V roku 1950 sa v Púchove začali vyrábať pneumatiky a dejiny mesta odvtedy splývajú s dejinami závodu. Vyrástol na najväčší priemyselný podnik Trenčianskeho kraja a sídliská na rovine pri rieke postavili pre ľudí, ktorí v ňom pracovali. V tých istých rokoch prestavali samotný Váh na sústavu priehrad a vodných elektrární a nosický stupeň na severnom okraji mesta priložil k Púchovu dlhú vodnú nádrž. Dodnes sa jej hovorí Priehrada mládeže, podľa brigád mladých dobrovoľníkov, ktorí na nej robili.
