The parish church of St Michael the Archangel was built in 1766, in the decades when the Habsburg monarchy was rebuilding parishes and schools across the country after the last of the uprisings. It is the oldest building in the town, and it fixed in stone the patron the village had already been putting on its seal for eighty years. Around it Nemšová stayed exactly what it was: a farming village on the road along the Váh, with carts climbing the Vlára pass to Moravia above it.Farský Kostol svätého Michala archanjela postavili roku 1766, v desaťročiach, keď habsburská monarchia po posledných povstaniach obnovovala po celej krajine fary a školy. Je to najstaršia stavba v meste a natrvalo v ňom zakotvila patróna, ktorého si dedina dávala na pečať už osemdesiat rokov. Okolo neho zostávala Nemšová presne tým, čím bola: roľníckou dedinou pri ceste popri Váhu, nad ktorou stúpali vozy Vlárskym priesmykom na Moravu.
