Nemšová's first written mention is from 1242 — the year the Mongol armies withdrew from the Kingdom of Hungary, leaving behind a country that had to be rebuilt and re-counted. That is very often when Slovak villages first appear on parchment, because that is when kings and bishops were taking stock of what they still had. As always, the date belongs to the document and not to the settlement: people were farming this flat land by the river long before 1242.Prvá písomná zmienka o Nemšovej je z roku 1242 — z roku, keď mongolské vojská odtiahli z Uhorska a nechali za sebou krajinu, ktorú bolo treba znova postaviť a znova spočítať. Práve vtedy sa slovenské dediny veľmi často po prvý raz objavujú na pergamene, lebo práve vtedy si králi a biskupi robili súpis toho, čo im ostalo. Ako vždy, dátum patrí listine, nie osade: na tejto rovine pri rieke sa hospodárilo dávno pred rokom 1242.
