Trenčianska Závada, high above the valley and today one of the four parts of Nemšová, was founded at the end of the fifteenth century during the Wallachian colonisation — the slow movement of shepherding communities westward along the Carpathian ridges, settling high ground nobody had ploughed. They came with sheep, with their own customary law, and with a way of using mountains that the lowland villages did not have. The ridge settlements of the White Carpathians and the Strážov Hills are largely their doing, and that is why a town on the river also owns a village at 320 metres.Trenčianska Závada, vysoko nad dolinou a dnes jedna zo štyroch častí Nemšovej, vznikla koncom 15. storočia počas valaskej kolonizácie — pomalého postupu pastierskych rodov na západ po karpatských hrebeňoch, ktorí osídľovali výšiny, kde nikto neoral. Prichádzali s ovcami, s vlastným zvykovým právom a so spôsobom, ako využiť hory, aký dedinám v doline chýbal. Hrebeňové osady Bielych Karpát a Strážovských vrchov sú z veľkej časti ich dielom — a preto mestu pri rieke patrí aj dedina v nadmorskej výške 320 metrov.
