2007 · 2014 · 2015 A working landscape, and the prizes it wonŽivá krajina a ceny, ktoré získala

The village won the national Dedina roka (Village of the Year) competition in 2007, the Slovak Republic's Landscape Prize in 2014, and a special distinction in the Council of Europe's Landscape Award in 2015 — all three for the same thing: a historic farming landscape that is still actually being farmed. The numbers behind it are larger than visitors expect. 419 potato cellars are still in use and 117 hay barns stand on the village's land, and the Goral dialect the first settlers carried over the mountains is still actively spoken by about half the adults and a fifth of the children. None of it is ticketed and none of it is laid on: the terraces are private working fields, and they will last exactly as long as somebody keeps farming them.Obec vyhrala roku 2007 celoslovenskú súťaž Dedina roka, roku 2014 získala Cenu Slovenskej republiky za krajinu a roku 2015 osobitné ocenenie v Cene Rady Európy za krajinu — všetky tri za tú istú vec: za historickú poľnohospodársku krajinu, ktorá sa naozaj stále obrába. Čísla za tým sú väčšie, než návštevník čaká. V používaní je 419 zemiakových pivníc, v chotári stojí 117 stodôl a goralským nárečím, ktoré si prví osadníci priniesli cez hory, aktívne hovorí ešte asi polovica dospelých a pätina detí. Nič z toho nie je na lístky a nič nie je pripravené pre turistov: terasy sú súkromné obrábané polia a vydržia presne dovtedy, dokiaľ ich bude mať kto obrábať.
