For most of a century Hungarian nobles rose again and again against Habsburg rule, and the last and largest of those wars — the rising led by Francis II Rákóczi — reached these villages in 1704 and 1705. Armies of both sides lived off the countryside they marched through, and for a village of this size that was the entire experience of the war. It is worth saying plainly, because this is the era Slovak villages most often blame on "the Turks": a great deal of the damage in these decades was done by Christian armies quartered on their own side's peasants.Uhorská šľachta sa takmer celé storočie opakovane búrila proti Habsburgovcom a posledné a najväčšie z týchto povstaní – to, ktoré viedol František II. Treba to povedať naplno, lebo práve tieto desaťročia zvyknú dediny pripisovať „Turkom“: veľkú časť škôd narobili kresťanské vojská ubytované u vlastných poddaných.
