In 1918 the village became part of Czechoslovakia, still under the name Gýmeš. The Forgách manor house down in the village remained the largest building in it, but the world that had built it, a landed estate with tenants, ended with the empire.V roku 1918 sa obec stala súčasťou Československa a stále sa volala Gýmeš. Forgáčovský kaštieľ dolu v dedine zostal najväčšou budovou v nej, ale svet, ktorý ho postavil – veľkostatok s nájomcami –, sa s monarchiou skončil.
