In 1964, workmen digging here turned up 108 gold coins struck in the Eastern Roman Empire — Byzantium — in the fifth century. How they got here is the interesting part: Constantinople paid out gold by the sackful to the peoples living along the Danube to keep them quiet, and some of that money travelled north. From the late sixth century this country belonged to the Avars, and finds of that period have come out of the fields around the village too. Long before any document names the place, somebody was living here, trading, and burying their dead.V roku 1964 vykopali pri zemných prácach 108 zlatých mincí, razených vo Východorímskej ríši v 5. storočí. Zaujímavejšie ako mince je otázka, ako sa sem dostali: Konštantínopol vtedy platil národom na Dunaji obrovské sumy v zlate za pokoj a časť tohto zlata putovala aj na sever. Od konca 6. storočia patrilo toto územie Avarom a z chotára pochádzajú aj nálezy z ich obdobia. Dávno predtým, než dedinu spomenula prvá listina, tu teda niekto žil, obchodoval a pochovával svojich mŕtvych.
