Plešivec today has about two thousand inhabitants, a Reformed congregation looking after a fourteenth-century church, and a limestone plateau above the last houses that is grazing and forest rather than a park. Both of the things worth seeing here ask something of you: the church is locked between services and opened by arrangement with the parish, and the plateau is waterless, unfenced in places, with shafts and caves on it that are for cavers only. In recent summers weekend tourist trains have started running up the Štítnik valley again. It is not much, but it is the first thing to grow here in thirty years.V Plešivci dnes žije asi dvetisíc ľudí, o kostol zo 14. storočia sa stará reformovaný zbor a nad poslednými domami sa dvíha vápencová planina, ktorá je pastvinou a lesom, nie parkom. Obe veci, ktoré tu stoja za pozretie, si vyžadujú námahu: kostol býva medzi bohoslužbami zamknutý a otvára sa po dohode s farou, planina je bezvodá, miestami neohradená a jej priepasti a jaskyne patria jaskyniarom. V posledných letách sa cez víkendy do Štítnickej doliny vrátili turistické vlaky. Nie je to veľa, ale je to prvá vec, ktorá tu za tridsať rokov rástla.
