Svätý Jur is now a commuter town for Bratislava, and an expensive one: a quarter of an hour by train from the capital, with vineyards behind the garden, has pushed house prices far above what a town of six thousand people would otherwise support. Some of the abandoned terraces have been cleared and replanted over the last twenty years, partly as a business and partly as heritage work, and the walls have to be rebuilt stone by stone because that is the only way they were ever built. The pressure is now the opposite of the twentieth century's: the problem is not that nobody wants the slope, but that everybody does — and a vineyard terrace and a building plot are worth very different amounts of money.Svätý Jur je dnes mestom ľudí dochádzajúcich do Bratislavy, a to drahým: štvrťhodina vlakom od hlavného mesta a vinice hneď za záhradou vyhnali ceny domov ďaleko nad to, čo by šesťtisícové mesto samo uživilo. Časť opustených terás sa za posledných dvadsať rokov vyčistila a znova vysadila — sčasti ako podnikanie, sčasti ako pamiatková práca — a múriky treba skladať kameň po kameni, lebo inak sa nikdy nestavali. Tlak je dnes opačný než v 20. storočí: problémom nie je, že o svah nikto nestojí, ale že oň stoja všetci — a vinohradnícka terasa a stavebný pozemok majú veľmi rozdielnu cenu.
