On 4 August 1647 Ottoman troops took Žarnovica, and Zsigmond Dóczy, the last lord of his line, was captured and beheaded. The family died out with him and Revište reverted to the crown. It is worth being exact here, because 'the Turks destroyed it' is a sentence attached to far more Slovak places than it belongs to — in this case the record actually names the day, the town and the man. The Ottomans did not stay: raids of this kind were after plunder, captives and ransom, not occupation.4. augusta 1647 obsadili Žarnovicu osmanské vojská a Žigmunda Dóciho, posledného pána svojho rodu, zajali a sťali. Rod ním vymrel a Revište pripadlo späť korune. Oplatí sa byť tu presný, lebo veta „zničili to Turci“ visí na oveľa viacerých slovenských miestach, než jej patrí — tu pramene naozaj pomenúvajú deň, mesto aj človeka. Turci tu nezostali: takéto nájazdy mierili na korisť, zajatcov a výkupné, nie na obsadenie územia.
