Bzince's first written mention is one line in the register of the papal tithe collectors for 1332–1337: "Item Johannes de Bot seu Johannes de Viel solvit IIII. grossos, et erat pauper eremita" — "Also John of Bot, or John of Nové Mesto, paid four groschen, and he was a poor hermit." Historians long read "Bot" as Trebatice near Piešťany; Jozef Trochta of the Slovak Academy of Sciences showed it has to be Bzince, which was written Bizench and Bot in the Middle Ages and Botfalu in Hungarian. The church of St Michael in the village is older than that document — a Gothic building from the turn of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. Kostol svätého Michala v obci je starší ako tá listina — gotická stavba z prelomu 13. a 14. storočia. Miestna tradícia dodáva, že sa tu usadili templári a postavili ho v roku 1215, a vlastné písané dejiny obce otvorene hovoria, že tento údaj nie je podložený: pekný príklad miesta, ktoré má svoj príbeh rado a napriek tomu o ňom hovorí pravdu.
