A survey of 1715 found ten taxpayers and three craftsmen in Šimonovany: the village had been emptied out by the wars and epidemics of the preceding decades, as most of the country had. Recovery was slow. By 1828 there were seventy-four houses and about five hundred people. That is still a village, on the same fields, doing the same work — a hundred and ten years before the bulldozers arrived.Súpis z roku 1715 našiel v Šimonovanoch desiatich daňovníkov a troch remeselníkov: dedinu vyprázdnili vojny a epidémie predchádzajúcich desaťročí, tak ako väčšinu krajiny.
