What stood here before the town was a village called Šimonovany, first mentioned in writing in 1260 under the form Symoni. It sat on the flat floor of the Nitra valley — good soil, easy to reach — and it stayed a farming village for the next six hundred and seventy-eight years. Its name, its street and its manor house are still there on the edge of Partizánske, which absorbed the village in 1949.Pred mestom tu stála dedina Šimonovany, prvý raz písomne doložená v roku 1260 v tvare Symoni.
