Bánovce nad BebravouBánovce nad Bebravou

A baroque column carrying a statue of the Virgin was raised on the square in 1712, of the kind put up across central Europe in thanksgiving after an outbreak of plague; a statue of St Florian, the patron against fire, followed later in the century. Between 1799 and 1804 the town built the classicist church of the Holy Trinity on the site of an older building, and that is the church at the centre of Bánovce today. Underneath the ceremony this was a working craft town: shoemakers, joiners, clothmakers, blacksmiths, butchers, weavers and tailors, each trade organised in its guild. V rokoch 1799 až 1804 postavilo mestečko na mieste staršej stavby klasicistický Kostol Najsvätejšej Trojice a práve ten dnes stojí v strede Bánoviec. Pod týmto obradným povrchom bolo mestečko pracovitým remeselníckym miestom: obuvníci, stolári, súkenníci, kováči, mäsiari, tkáči a krajčíri, každé remeslo združené vo svojom cechu.
