In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries a glassworks stood on the village's land. It was the obvious industry for a place like this: glass needs sand, enormous quantities of firewood and potash burned from the ash, and the forests supplied both. It kept going until 1912, and then it closed. There was nothing to replace it. Šariš in these decades was one of the counties that emptied into America: from villages exactly like this one, men and then whole families left for the mines and mills of Pennsylvania, and many never came back.V 17. a 18. storočí stála v chotári obce skláreň.
