When Czechoslovakia was created the state took the estate over and made the manor the president's summer residence. Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk came from 1923 onward, once staying four months, receiving foreign statesmen and riding out to the lime kilns at Skýcov and the ruin below Hrušov castle; he gave the parish church two bells. In those years the village gained a hotel, the Národný dom, a sewerage system and its first electric light. The National Stud Farm was founded on estate land in 1921 — a young state deliberately building an institution rather than inheriting one — and it has been the anchor of the village ever since. V tých rokoch obec získala hotel Národný dom, kanalizáciu a prvé elektrické svetlo. Na pozemkoch panstva vznikol v roku 1921 Národný žrebčín — mladý štát tu vedome budoval inštitúciu, nie ju zdedil — a ten je odvtedy oporou obce.
