Topoľčianky lie at the southern foot of the Tribeč hills, about five kilometres north of Zlaté Moravce and half an hour east of Nitra. Wooded ridges close the village on the north and west; to the south the ground drops away into the Žitava lowland and the vineyards start.Topoľčianky ležia na južnom úpätí Tribeča, asi päť kilometrov severne od Zlatých Moraviec a pol hodiny východne od Nitry. A hunting lodge stood here from the Middle Ages because of what surrounds it: the Tribeč forests were a game reserve for whoever held the estate, and the estate passed through the great landowning families of the kingdom before ending with the Habsburgs.Poľovnícky kaštieľ tu stál už od stredoveku, a to práve pre okolie: tribečské lesy boli zverincom pre každého, kto panstvo držal, a panstvo prešlo veľkými zemepánskymi rodmi kráľovstva, kým neskončilo pri Habsburgovcoch.
Between the wars the manor became a summer residence of the president of Czechoslovakia, which is why the interiors survived furnished rather than being stripped: they were in continuous official use. The national stud farm was founded in the village in 1921, on the same estate land.Medzi vojnami sa kaštieľ stal letným sídlom prezidenta Československa — preto sa interiéry zachovali zariadené a nie vyprázdnené: boli v nepretržitom oficiálnom užívaní. The manor house is the set piece: a long classicist range around a courtyard, with period rooms, hunting collections and a library that is one of the finest surviving Empire interiors in the country. It is a state museum, so opening is seasonal and guided — check before you travel.Kaštieľ je hlavnou pamiatkou: dlhé klasicistické krídla okolo nádvoria, dobové izby, poľovnícke zbierky a knižnica, ktorá patrí k najkrajším zachovaným empírovým interiérom v krajine. Je to štátne múzeum, takže sa otvára sezónne a prehliadky sú so sprievodcom — pred cestou si to overte.
Behind it the English park runs into the forest. The national stud farm keeps several hundred horses across its yards and pastures and is a working breeding operation, not a show; visits follow its own arrangements. In the forest above the village an enclosure holds a herd of European bison — wisent — reintroduced here decades ago.Za ním prechádza anglický park do lesa. Národný žrebčín chová vo dvoroch a na pasienkoch niekoľko stoviek koní a je skutočnou chovnou prevádzkou, nie predstavením; návštevy sa riadia jeho vlastnými pravidlami. The village wine cellars and the surrounding vineyards are the fourth strand, and the marked trails onto the Tribeč ridge start from the edge of the park.Štvrtou niťou sú obecné vínne pivnice a okolité vinice a značené chodníky na hrebeň Tribeča začínajú na okraji parku.

Topoľčianky is an ordinary working village with an extraordinary amount inside its boundary. The manor, the stud farm and the wisent enclosure are three separate institutions with three separate sets of opening arrangements, and none of them is open continuously through the year. Treat a visit as a plan, not a stroll.Topoľčianky sú bežnou fungujúcou obcou s mimoriadnym množstvom vecí v chotári. Kaštieľ, žrebčín a zubria obora sú tri samostatné inštitúcie s tromi samostatnými režimami otvárania a ani jedna nie je otvorená nepretržite celý rok. Návštevu plánujte, neberte ju ako prechádzku.

Buses from Zlaté Moravce and Nitra serve the village; by car it is a short signposted turn north off the Nitra–Levice road at Zlaté Moravce.
