SlavošovceSlavošovce
During the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries several of the valley's iron hammers were converted into paper mills, and the Slavošovce mill dates its beginnings to 1817. At first the paper was made by hand, sheet by sheet, and it was mostly wrapping paper rather than anything fine. Then in 1841 Johanna Ďurkyová — named in the village's own history as the mill's founder — installed a paper machine, which the village and the Slovak encyclopaedia both describe as the first machine paper production in the Kingdom of Hungary. Whether or not that claim survives a specialist's check, the important thing is real: an unlikely industry took root in a poor upland valley, and it outlasted the ore.V osemnástom a na začiatku devätnásteho storočia menili viaceré hámre v doline na papierne a slavošovská papiereň kladie svoje začiatky do roku 1817.
