The Soviet dead of the Dargov fighting were counted by exhumation at 4,743, and a memorial to them was raised on the pass, sculpted by Vojtech Löffler and unveiled on the tenth anniversary of the battle. It was moved to its present site above the road in 1975, and a rose garden beside it commemorates the roughly 22,000 Soviet soldiers who died in eastern Slovakia. It is the landmark of this district and a sombre one — an open saddle in the forest with the whole Zemplín plain laid out below to the east. In the town underneath, the communist decades meant collectivised farms, a little food processing and a lot of commuting; the market street stayed, and so did the fairs.Sovietskych padlých z bojov o Dargov napočítali pri exhumáciách 4 743 a na priesmyku im postavili pamätník, ktorý vytvoril sochár Vojtech Löffler a ktorý odhalili k desiatemu výročiu bitky. Roku 1975 ho presunuli na dnešné miesto nad cestou a ružová záhrada vedľa neho pripomína približne 22-tisíc sovietskych vojakov, ktorí padli na východnom Slovensku. Je to orientačný bod celého okolia a pochmúrny — otvorené sedlo uprostred lesa, pod ktorým sa na východ rozprestiera celá zemplínska rovina. V meste pod ním znamenali komunistické desaťročia družstevné polia, trochu potravinárstva a veľa dochádzania; trhová ulica zostala a s ňou aj jarmoky.
