1991 The low point, and a museumDno a múzeum

The census of 1991 found 1,374 people in Modrý Kameň, the fewest on record — the state jobs of the communist decades were ending and there was nothing local to replace them. What the town did have was the castle, and in the closing years of the century the mansion became the home of the Slovak National Museum's Museum of Puppetry Cultures and Toys. It is a small thing to build a future on, but it is genuinely unique in Slovakia, and it is the reason coaches come up the hill at all.Sčítanie roku 1991 napočítalo v Modrom Kameni 1 374 ľudí, najmenej v jeho dejinách — štátne pracovné miesta z čias socializmu sa končili a doma ich nemal čo nahradiť.
