When the Ottoman campaign of 1575 took the castle after a three-day fight, the settlement below it had no defences of its own worth the name. The village was destroyed in the same war and its people scattered or taken; for the next generation there was an Ottoman garrison on the hill and effectively no town underneath. This is what the frontier meant for ordinary people, and it is the part that gets left out of castle stories: a fortress can be recaptured, but the households that made up a village mostly do not come back.Keď osmanská výprava roku 1575 po trojdňovom boji dobyla hrad, osada pod ním nemala nijaké vlastné opevnenie, ktoré by stálo za reč.
