A bank and a newspaper had already been founded in 1846 and a Calvinist grammar school in 1847. The telegraph reached Lučenec in 1865 and the railway in 1871, on the line from Budapest through the town to Žilina and on to Ostrava. A market town on a railway becomes an industrial town, and this one did: tanneries, a brickworks, an agricultural machinery works, and above all the enamelware factory whose pots and basins carried the name of Lučenec across the monarchy. A new town hall went up in the 1890s and the first permanent cinema opened in 1910. This is the town that the fire of 1849 made possible.Banka a noviny tu vznikli už roku 1846, kalvínske gymnázium roku 1847. Telegraf dorazil do Lučenca roku 1865 a železnica roku 1871 — trať z Budapešti cez mesto do Žiliny a ďalej do Ostravy. Z trhového mesta na železnici sa stáva mesto priemyselné, a tak to aj bolo: garbiarne, tehelňa, továreň na poľnohospodárske stroje a predovšetkým smaltovňa, ktorej hrnce a lavóry rozniesli meno Lučenca po celej monarchii. V deväťdesiatych rokoch 19. storočia postavili novú radnicu a roku 1910 otvorili prvé stále kino. Toto je mesto, ktoré umožnil požiar z roku 1849.
