Francis II Rákóczi's rising reached Krupina at once: the kuruc commander Ladislav Očkaj took the town in 1703. Five years later it was the retreating kuruc who destroyed it — on 23 October 1708 the men of General Juraj Andráši burned Krupina as they pulled out. Plague followed in 1710. A census in 1715 found three mills and 164 houses left standing, which is the plainest measure there is of what a century of war does to a town. Remember it the next time you hear that the Turks burned somewhere in Slovakia: here the date, the army and the commander are all on record, and none of them were Ottoman.Povstanie Františka II. O päť rokov ho zničili tí istí kuruci — dvadsiateho tretieho októbra 1708 vypálili Krupinu pri ústupe vojaci generála Juraja Andrášiho. Roku 1710 prišiel mor. Súpis z roku 1715 našiel v meste tri mlyny a 164 stojacich domov, čo je najzrozumiteľnejšia miera toho, čo storočie vojny urobí z mesta.
