In 1777 Heinrich Johann von Crantz, a physician in Habsburg service, published the first official written description of the water here as a healing spring, under the name Gyógy. This was the age when the monarchy was surveying everything it owned — mines, forests, roads, mineral waters — and writing it all into books. Being written into a book is how a village spring becomes a resource.
