By the nineteenth century the old church of the Virgin Mary, Queen of Angels was far too small for the numbers arriving. During a canonical visitation in 1831 the bishop of Nitra, Jozef Wurum, ordered a bigger one built. Work began in 1864 to a design by the architect František Blaschke and cost 14,800 guilders — an enormous sum for a village of woodcutters, and it was pilgrims from across the region who paid it. The church was finished in 1866 and consecrated on 27 May that year, and the statue was carried over from the old building. That is why a small village has a church and an open square on that scale.V 19. storočí už bol starý kostol Panny Márie, Kráľovnej anjelov, na počty prichádzajúcich celkom malý. Pri kanonickej vizitácii v roku 1831 nariadil nitriansky biskup Jozef Wurum postaviť väčší. Stavať sa začalo v roku 1864 podľa návrhu architekta Františka Blaschkeho a stálo to 14 800 zlatých — na dedinu drevorubačov obrovská suma, ktorú zaplatili pútnici z celého kraja. Kostol dokončili v roku 1866 a 27. mája ho vysvätili; sochu doň preniesli zo starej stavby. Práve preto má malá dedina kostol a otvorené priestranstvo takých rozmerov.
