Liptovský HrádokLiptovský Hrádok
The Hrádok estate was mostly forest, and the Chamber needed men who could actually run a forest — measure it, cut it, replant it, float the timber out. So it founded a school. The initiative came in 1795 from František Wisner of Morgenstern, prefect of the Hrádok–Likava domain, and the classicist school building with its mansard roof went up between 1796 and 1800. It was the first forestry school in the Kingdom of Hungary. That is why a subject you would expect in a capital city has been taught in a small town under the Tatras for well over two centuries: not prestige, but the fact that the trees were here and somebody had to be trained to look after them. Forestry teaching has never left Liptovský Hrádok since.Hrádocké panstvo tvoril prevažne les a Komora potrebovala ľudí, ktorí les naozaj vedeli spravovať — vymerať ho, vyťažiť, obnoviť a drevo splaviť. Založila si teda školu. Podnet dal v roku 1795 František Wisner z Morgensternu, prefekt hrádocko-likavského domínia, a klasicistická školská budova s manzardovou strechou vyrástla v rokoch 1796 – 1800.
